Lucy Jensen Studio designs and produces murals and more, for residences and businesses. We do all sizes, from small niches to entire rooms, to the side of a building.
We opened in 1987, specializing in murals, trompe l’oeil, decorative painting, faux finished, and metal leafing. My foundation is in fine art, with extensive experience in scenic art for movies, television, and amusement parks.
Originally from RedBank, NJ., I attended Emmanuel College in Boston, MA. After my sophomore year, I traveled exstensively in Italy, Greece, and the Middle East. Inspired by my visual experiences, I began formal art training , earning a BFA in painting and drawing from the Fine Arts College at the University of New Mexico in ALbuquerque.
During my employment s a scenic artist, my technical/artistic skills continued to expand, as well as my ability to assume greater managerial responsibilities, such as hiring and directing scene painting crews.
In 1990, I joined the American Society of Interior Designers as an Industry Partner. Over the years I have formed lasting, productive relationships with design professionals and other clients. In that time, Lucy Jensen Studio has established itself as a consistent source of talent and innovation, creating works for residences, shopping malls, showrooms, bookstores, and museums; twelve Southern California showcase houses, and two episodes of HGTV’s “Designing for the Sexes” (2002-03).
I believe every environment has the potential to be inspiring visually, whether it is soothing or exciting, fanciful or serious. I am inspired by the tone and character of a space, and by the needs and desires of the people who live, work, and play in it.
Typically, the process begins when a client who is considering a mural or decorative painting as part of their design plan contacts the studio. At an initial meeting, we discuss particulars of the space, color palette, style preference, etc. Next, we provide an estimate of the cost. Following its approval, a sketch or sample is created. After a final rendering is approved, time is scheduled for the actual project.
